Evidence for defence
The accused shall then be called upon to enter upon his defence and produce his evidence; and the provisions of section 266 shall apply to the case. C.—Conclusion of trial
Why this exists
Rather than repeating identical defence-stage rules, this section simply borrows the earlier provision's framework (summoning defence witnesses, filing written statements, guarding against delay tactics) and applies it to complaint-based warrant cases, keeping the law consistent across both trial routes. It mirrors section 247 of the earlier Code of Criminal Procedure.
